Creating Leaders
MVA Crew Lead Certificate
Crew Lead Certificate Overview
Crew leaders and first-time supervisors are critical links in the vineyard workforce. Employees in these positions are typically selected from the vineyard workers they supervise. They often have little or no experience managing employees.
The MVA Crew Lead Certificate program has been developed to fill the leadership training gap for these important employees. Focusing on leadership, communication, and supervision skills, this program prepares participants to be successful, effective leaders for their crews.

Crew Lead Program Benefits
With 60% to 70% of costs associated with coastal vineyard operations linked to work crews, an investment in leadership development among this critical group makes good business sense.
As leadership and management skills increase among crew supervisors, an improved work environment is created for all employees. Knowledgeable supervisors are more efficient and effective, which in turn leads to better production and lower operating costs.
Intended Audience
The audience for this program are crew leaders and first-time supervisors with 6 months to 5 years in their current position.
Program Format
This program is set up with a series of leadership and communication topics that will prepare the participants to be successful in their role.
Classes will be taught in Spanish and presented live. Students will be given assignments to be completed between classes to help them practice the skills being taught in the course.
